In the old neighbourhoods, people were - and sometimes still are - surveilling their own street, making them safe. Now, streets of large cities are spaces of anonymity. Passers-by do not care about what is happening around them. How then do the new forms of surveillance succeed, or fail, in keeping residents and users safe?
